Intercultural conflict management: validation of an instrument and implications for contemporary organizations
The Journal of Education and Research in Accounting (REPeC) is pleased to present the article “Between ‘walls’ and ‘bridges’: conflict management styles in intercultural contexts”, authored by Iracema Raimunda Brito das Neves, Wenner Gláucio Lopes Lucena, and Gerlando Augusto Sampaio Franco de Lima, published in the 2026 continuous edition.
The study aims to validate, for the Brazilian context, the Thomas-Kilmann instrument, widely used to identify conflict management styles in organizational environments. Using a mixed-method approach and data collected from accounting professionals, the findings reveal the coexistence of different conflict management styles—such as collaborative, competitive, avoiding, accommodating, and compromising—and confirm the model’s reliability in intercultural settings .
